- Introduce the opposition with a grabber (get the reader thinking about opposing your topic)
- Several (at least 2) reasons others oppose your topic. Include evidence from your research. Explain your evidence to the reader (explain the opposition by using factual, researched evidence)
- Conclude the opposing position (summarize the opposing arguments)
- Cite at least 2 sources using MLA format (include Author, publisher, Title, Date, Web address)
Your writing will be 1-2 paragraphs in length. They should be written in a formal style (minimizing or eliminating the use of first-person and second-person pronouns). Remember, this is putting yourself in your opposition's shoes; write from the perspective of agreeing with the opposing side.

Which would be worse failing all of your classes or never having time for friends, family, or fun? Some students feel as though they are faced with this question every day; do they risk failing their classes due to not doing their homework, or do they spend all of their time outside of school on their homework and neglect their family, friends, and extra curricular hobbies? The effects of homework for students ranges from health issues, to lack of time for extra curricular activities, to causing achievement gaps.
In one Stanford University study, "56 percent of the students considered homework a primary source of stress. Less than 1 percent of the students said homework was not a stressor" (Parker). The daily struggle students face with homework has many effects such as sleep deprivation, headaches, exhaustion, weight loss and stomach problems. In addition to health problems, students are faced with the issue having less time for friends, family and extracurricular pursuits. Students are more likely to drop activities, not see friends or family, and not pursue hobbies they enjoy.
Some opponents of homework in school argue that homework can increase the achievement gap between students from affluent and poor families (Edvantia). High-achieving students who have extra resources from home benefit from homework because they have more opportunities to complete it and often get help with assignments. Low-achieving students from poor families, on the other hand, suffer due to home circumstances caused by economic deprivation. Such circumstances as parents working several jobs, frequent moves, and crowded homes make it difficult to complete homework or any at-home academic learning. Because a large emphasis is placed on homework, students who receive less help are less likely to gain the learning, and, therefore, fall behind in school. The undue amounts of stress, which students are facing because of homework, are resulting in health issues, lack of free time, and causing achievement gaps in learning.

“After all, according to a MSNBC investigation, researchers have found that the average high school gym class only keeps students physically active for an average of 16 minutes!”(MSNBC). This shows why some gym classes have been cut from schools. Students are not receiving a full class period of activities in gym class. This is why some say it is a waste of time. The students could be spending the time wasted in gym class in their actual core classes. Many students have been surveyed, and most of them think gym class is not effective. This is also why gym class programs have been changed. Some gym classes will have their grades start to affect student’s GPA, which is unfair towards students who perform good academically, but struggle in gym.

It isn't always the best idea to use a quote as a grabber, as my brother has told me (an eleventh grader), but you had a good article, and I agree that gym isn't used effectively!
DeleteI like your grabber and I agree with Ryan that gym is not used effectively.
Deletei love your grabber it really wants me to read more but I would add a little bit more information in it.
Deletei really like this because the whole time i was reading this it really made me think and it pulled me and made me want to keep reading
DeleteI like your grabber. Also I like how you had alot of support and statistics to support your argument. I also liked your concluding statement. Great job overall!
DeleteSchool sports ending at 5:30 in the evening. Sure, starting school later gives you more sleep, but you're also home later and staying up late doing homework. Then the next thing you know, the whole thing will happen again. Schools should start at the same time so nothing ridiculous happens like first graders standing in the dark waiting for the bus. Millions of teachers also disagree with later start times saying that "they don't want it to change". It has been made clear that school should, and can not, start later.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/teachers-overwhelmingly-oppose-later-high-school-start-times-in-montgomery/2015/02/06/c53daf22-ae19-11e4-abe8-e1ef60ca26de_story.html
This is based off of a logical stand point. I highly disagree with it.
DeleteI think your grabber is very good. It really catches your attention, and makes the reader want to read on. Also, It really helps introduce your topic. Good job!
DeleteYour grabber helps catch the readers attention, but I feel like if you added more details describing why school should not start later it would make your blog entry better.
DeleteYou brought up some really good points that I never thought of! Good job!
Deleteyou have a good grabber and you brought up some good points.
DeleteYour grabber intrigued me and I was satisfied how you approached the rest of your paragraph. Good job
DeleteThis is a good argument and it is very interesting. On the other hand, I believe that you could have added more detail, examples, or back up info to support the argument more. It would have made this argument better if you included evidence. Other than that, great work!

ReplyDeleteAlthough safety should always be a first concern, Some schools just don’t have enough money to buy the best helmets and equipment for the whole football team. Good Football helmets could cost as much as $450 dollars each, plus the additional price of the padding cleats and other equipment needed. Although most schools pay for sports equipment not all schools have the money to pay for all the nesscary equipment to stop concussions. Works Cited

I do agree that some schools don't pay enough money, but what the schools did have enough?
DeleteI do think you have a point and I side with you. But I think you should add more information to your side. I liked your intro because it came right out and said what your argument was.
DeleteI think you have good support but you need more support and add more information.
DeleteHave you ever wanted to wear a certain outfit, but couldn’t because of a dress code? Well you are not alone because this is a popular situation that occurs because of strict dress codes at schools. Dress codes have many issues including restricting students from being able to express themselves, making some students uncomfortable in school because of clothing, and discriminating boys and girls.
ReplyDeleteThe first issue with dress codes is that they restrict students from being able to express themselves. Some people use clothes to express who they are and what they like, but can’t because it interferes with the dress code. Also, it makes some students uncomfortable during class because they are not wearing clothes that make them confident and comfortable. Lastly, dress codes discriminate boys and girls in two main ways. The first way is that they are typically more strict on girls about their clothing which can make girls feel ashamed of their body which may cause many self-esteem issues. The second way is that they make girls cover themselves because they think that boys will not be able to control themselves if the girls are showing some skin. This especially occurs about the rule that girls can only wear a shirt that has three finger width straps. If there was not a dress code than many of these issues could be resolved and the students would have a more comfortable learning experience.

ReplyDeleteIs an American pastime sport really more deserving over the people who protect us? I think not. Although football is highly popular, and somehow people are willing to spend more money on athletics than they are their freedom, The real bucks should be going to the guys who are doing the hardest job of all. Fighting off the America’s demons. From Afghanistan to Africa, these soldiers do it all. So to think that they aren’t as appreciated at pro footballers makes me terrified for our nations future. The whole, “tv has more money and the government can only spent too much” issue comes into play as well as there are more people in the armed forces than there are in the NFL because it is really difficult to be a professional anything. You Have to do really good in high school, (academics and even better in your select sport) in order to be recruited. That’s why people pay so much money, because they're so good at what they do. What if that money was equally divided amongst people in the armed forces and pro footballers? I think the world would be a much better place.
Parizek, Henry. “Are Athletes Paid Too Much?” Blogspot. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 Mar. 2015. .
I like how you showed how unreasonable not paying US soldiers much money is, but I think that your solution is a little unrealistic, while something like, increasing the TV station's taxes, or the players taxes would be more realistic.
DeleteEvery year more and more children are participating in beauty pageants. A lot of controversy has come out of this topic, and people who are against the pageants say that they can harm the children's self esteem... But what people sometimes forget is that pageants can also hurt children physically.
ReplyDeleteIn beauty pageants, in order to win, children have to wear make-up, hair extensions, fake teeth, fake nails, and more. As if this was not bad enough, children are exposed to lots of chemicals too, such as hairspray. According to Travis Stork of CBS’s The Doctors, hairspray has chemicals that act like hormone disruptors. This can lead to stunted growth and even lung cancer. Another issue is tanning; fake tan is a problem, but real tanning is not unheard of either, and is even worse. Going to tanning beds, in order to look healthier, exposes kids to UV lights which, especially on young skin, can cause premature ageing and skin cancer.
Although there is much evidence supporting that beauty pageants are bad, children still participate in them because a lot of the times, parents force them to. This is putting a bad name on society itself, because parents ignore the needs of their own children just to watch them get a crown and some trophies.
Interesting, I noticed you didn't cite your source, and it was clear that you used one. Otherwise I thought it was good, and I hope to hear what you say about beauty pageants in the final post.
DeleteReciting the pledge in school every morning is part of the routine, and has been around for more than 100 years. But for some students that is not the case. For some it may be just sitting quietly during the pledge. A lot of students don’t say the pledge for religious reasons. This is because, for people who maybe don’t believe in god, get offended by the phrase ‘under god’. This topic is a big debate topic around the country.
ReplyDeleteSome schools like Highland Elementary School routinely forced their students to stand during the Pledge. One particular fifth grade teacher, Jeff Mason, tried to protect the rights of Highland Elementary school students. He faced significant intimidation and hostility from school administration and staff. So the ACLU of Oregon sent to the Superintendent of the school district that Highland Elementary is in reminding him that forcing students to recite the Pledge is unconstitutional. Shortly after receiving the letter Highland made dramatic changes to their rules about standing for the Pledge of Allegiance, and made it an option whether you want to stand or not.
This topic has gone around the whole country, and it’s very serious. Some schools have even brought the topic to court saying that a refusal to state the pledge is disruptive to the rest of the school. Some students may feel that they have to state the Pledge because of peer pressure and want to fit in. Which everyone knows that school are against peer pressure.

ReplyDeleteThe iconic, much referenced movie Forest Gump did well right? Wrong. The movie actually didn’t turn a profit like many other movies, now and then. Other examples of movies not making a profit include: Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix. “I get these occasional letters from Lucasfilm saying that we regret to inform you that as Return of the Jedi has never gone into profit, we’ve got nothing to send you. Now here we’re talking about one of the biggest releases of all time. I don’t want to look like I’m b****ing about it, but on the other hand, if there’s a pot of gold somewhere that I ought to be having a share of, I would like to see it,” said David Prowse. This is the actor that played… Darth Vader. Another showing of how movies are losing money comes from Andrew Allen. “Much has been said over the last few days about the bleak year for theatrical films with year-end box office sales down 3.8% compared to last year and attendance down 4.7% (Box Office Mojo),” said Andrew Allen. This is proof that more movies are not making money, not just not turning a profit. From research, it is found that 80% of movies don’t actually make a profit. That’s a lot of movies.

DeleteNew surveys taken by teachers show that teachers overwhelmingly oppose all options for starting middle and high school later. In Montgomery County, Alabama nearly half of the district’s 12,000 teachers responded to a survey, on whether school should start later or whether it should not, and 63 percent said they favored not changing school start times. “What’s striking is the message was the same from high school, middle school and elementary teachers,” said Tom Israel, executive director of the Montgomery County Education Association. “They were pretty strong in believing that it will not have any impact on academic achievement.” He said teachers who were surveyed also raised concerns about lower-income families (with students who have to work after-school jobs or take care of younger siblings) and whether they’d be able to do those activities if the school day is shifted. Teachers also raised concerns, he said, about how late extracurricular activities would go if school start times were changed. Michael Rubinstein, of the Montgomery chapter of the organization Start School Later, said the survey is a reflection that teachers just “don’t want to do it.” “They’re saying, ‘We don’t like change,’ ” Rubinstein said. On the question of whether high school students’ health would improve, 42 percent of teachers said yes, while 41 percent said it would make no difference. “The bottom line is, teachers don’t want to do it, and they’re making excuses,” Rubinstein said. “They’re concerned about what impact this has on them and not on the students.”

It could be used to do illegal things like pirate movies, make weapons, and drugs. Also people say that wifi isn't a necessity and it doesn't need to be free. This is why about 50% of people oppose the idea of free wifi.

ReplyDeleteAs you stroll along peacefully through your neighborhood, you suddenly stop dead in your tracks. You find yourself staring at swear words in ugly black spray paint on a brick wall. Would you call this art?
The answer is no; you would not call this art. It’s graffiti. It’s vandalism. It’s illegal.
Art isn’t supposed to be a crime, and that’s what graffiti is. Graffiti is illegal in most places. It costs millions of dollars to be cleaned up. That money could go to a homeless shelter or a children’s hospital, but no, instead it’s wasted on cleaning up spray paint. If caught doing graffiti, one will get arrested. Most artists don’t end up going to jail if police catch them doing their work. However, graffitists aren’t artists, because graffiti isn’t art.
Graffiti is known for being “unauthorized”. A shop owner doesn’t just hand a graffitist, or tagger, a spray can and allow the property to be vandalized. In other words, graffiti is done without permission. Sometimes graffiti is done to get the rush of adrenaline, since it is illegal, or feeling of rebellion. Spray cans are grabbed and the nearest building becomes the victim. No matter how good of a reason someone has, when they do graffiti, they are still causing harm. On that note, graffiti brings damage to most private properties without any permission.
Is art supposed to frighten people and chase them away? Graffiti does. Graffiti can contain messages, bad messages. Sometimes even threats are included. Graffiti is displayed in public such as in subway stations. The graffiti can frighten people and some have even stopped taking the subway because of it. It was found that in over a course of ten years, the amount of subway riders dropped. Many suspected it was because of graffiti.
Art isn’t meant to terrorize people and pose a threat. It isn’t supposed to be a crime and illegal either. Should art be done even if it is not allowed? Should art being causing harm and damage? No, it should not. Graffiti does that, but of course, it’s not art.

I like this essay as it has very, very detailed examples but I can't seem to get what you're trying to tell me (the claim). The way I see it is for the "for " side it's "graffiti is art" and opposing that is "graffiti is not art" Are these correct? If they aren't then you should probably make it easier to figure out what the two sides are. Otherwise, great essay!
DeleteGrand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, we know all these very popular games right? The ones where you shoot people, kill people and even steal cars. There is a heated debate about whether or not you should ban violent video games. Supporters of the ban may say that it causes violence, but violent video games still should not be banned. Violent video games should not be banned because it can actually lower crime rates. From 1990-2008, the FBI stated that as violent video games sold more games, the crime rates decreased. This is because now people can actually simulate what it’s like to rob a bank or steal a car instead of actually doing it. ProCon.org said ¨Playing violent video games provides a safe outlet for aggressive and angry feelings. A 2007 study reported that 45% of boys played video games because "it helps me get my anger out" and 62% played because it "helps me relax."¨
ReplyDeleteViolent video games, or just video games are a huge part of the world and U.S. government. The video game industry added about 4.9 billion dollars to the US economy in 2009. If we banned violent video games, then that is like throwing a huge chunk of money out the window. Since companies won’t be able to sell their violent video games, the US economy would lose at least 2 billion dollars. Moreover, that also means that about 32,000 people would be out of work and that would make the unemployment rate go up by a lot.
In summary, banning violent video games is not a great idea. Even though it might make some people violent, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t good. They can teach people to be creative and how to solve problems. It also gives a virtual place where kids can exercise violence without actually killing somebody or robbing an actual bank. Finally, banning these violent video games will have a bad effect on the economy. About 4.9 billion dollars alone will be lost only in the United States and a ton of people will be out of jobs.

DeleteCheers. Excitement. Victory. These are the things that college football stand for. Recently, many people and college athletes have been talking about college athletes being paid for their play on the field, and for going to practices. All of these players are constantly saying they are doing this for the love of the game, yet strangely, those are the same players who are constantly asking to be paid for their play, like Northwestern University’s football players petitioned for. If this happens, we would risk many more football programs losing money from football, which only 24 football programs are not.
ReplyDeleteOver the last few years, debate has heated up on the subject of whether college athletes should be paid. However, many players who have wanted to be paid are the ones who have said they play for the love of the game, which has become a very common statement, however, if the love of the game isn’t enough for these college athletes, and they are asking to be paid, then they must not love the game enough, and therefore, aren’t true players. And I say if there aren’t any true players left, well, then the people in charge of the schools begin to notice the athletic program isn’t really needed for the college.
Also, many point out that players are, in a way, being paid through scholarships. Many of these scholarships can total over $40,000. Also, if this doesn’t cover the entire pay to the school, then some players who don’t have enough money to feed themselves are sometimes given 3 meals a day by the college, and also live on-campus. Though these players don’t have much spending money, they still have the necessities of life, and an opportunity every Saturday to show the world, especially the NFL, what they have, and are basically given a chance to tryout for the NFL in a 5-6 month season. Also, of nearly 300 schools, only 24 have made money on their football program after giving out scholarships, and paying coaches and assistants.
In conclusion, though some feel that many players feel they are given very little for all the time and effort they have put in, they don’t really need more, and are already given about $40,000 per year in scholarships to play their sport. Also, if they truly love the game, then shouldn’t $40,000 per year in a scholarship be $40,000 more than they need?

ReplyDeleteAlthough, the AP U.S. History, also known as Advanced Placement United States History, course has left out multiple important political and social people of the United States’ history, the public has not been misled. In 2012 the College Board made justifications on the AP U.S. History curriculum (Huffington Post). Not only does the curriculum go in depth about topics but it urges teachers to help develop “critical thinking” skills with their students (Huffington Post). This all begun by the Oklahoma State House of Representatives’ Education Committee making a bill. They set out to take funding away from the new curriculum and create a new one that is believed to be “pro- American by the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Dan Fisher” (Politico). Furthermore, these steps have caused a debate throughout America. The new curriculum that was created by the College Board should stay for these reasons, it urges teachers to develop critical thinking skills with their students and have the AP U.S. History teachers go into depth about topics.

DeleteIn the U.S technology has became a part of everyday life, technology has made a great impact on the U.S in many ways. In this post I will talk about how technology helps us and how we can't avoid using technology. The first positive effect I will discuss today technology helps kids with disabilities to overcome different obstacles in the classroom. The second positive effect I will discuss today is technology is about how technology helps kids learn how to read, write, etc by making lessons into creative games.
ReplyDeleteThe first positive I will discuss in this post is how technology helps kids with disabilities. Technology helps kids with disabilities such as dyslexia read when their disabilities don't let them. Technology also helps kids with physical disabilities like dysgraphia by helping turn a page in a book or helping them answer a test with voice software. This is the main reason technolegy is a bright light in a sea when someone needs guidence, technolegy helps everywhere and everyone.
The final positive effect I will discuss in this post is how technology helps kids learn. One effect of technology is many app stores in tablets or phones have educational fun games. These games help kids learn to read and write. This is one of the main reasons why technology helps kids,to learn to read and write that will open a whole new world.

DeleteDid you know that there are seven different definitions of the word sport. This week I researched the reasons why dance shouldn’t be considered a sport, and honestly there weren’t that many. Just a lot of lists on characteristics of a sport and things like that. Also if you look at the things used to score and play sports, dance doesn’t match as many of them as you may think.
ReplyDeleteThe four most important characteristics that make a sport a sport are teams, physical activity, rules, and goals. Only one of those traits constantly applies to dance, and that is physical activity. There are no rules and goals ever in dance and there are not always groups, a lot of the time people perform solo dance routine. A couple things that are needed for most sports, not all, are a ball, something to score on, and a rival team to physically play against. Dance doesn’t have really any of those things involved in it.
Now with characteristics that make a sport a sport and things you need to play a sport, the side of dance shouldn’t be considered a sport is really well backed up. It is going to be harder than I thought to choose what side I support at the end.

DeleteThis is well written. I get that with some topics, it's hard to find back up info to support your argument (You said there weren't that many reasons) Just be sure to proofread and double check your writing. There were a few parts where I was a bit confused. On the other hand, nice work!
DeleteThe fate of the world could be decided by the U.S. Congress. If they decide to send troops to fight I.S.I.S. it could trigger World War Three.
ReplyDeleteThis is one reason that we should not interfere with the crisis in the Middle East. U.S. intelligence agencies said that there is no immediate threat of I.S.I.S. inspiring attacks in the U.S. (Mazzetti) Therefore I.S.I.S. is not a threat to America. The United States of America has one of the best military forces in the world. If I.S.I.S. were to come over to the U.S. our military would prevent them from being able to carry out their threats.
Another reason is that this war is not our fight. I.S.I.S. is fighting in Iraq and Syria not on U.S. soil. Iraqi forces, the Iranian Army, and many other forces are fighting I.S.I.S. and winning towns back every day. (Chappell) Many other countries are aiding by giving supplies and training groups of rebels and Iraqi forces. For example Germany and Italy are training rebel groups and are giving them weapons, ammo, and war tactics. This progress shows that they do not need our help.
In order to avoid loss of American lives we should let the Syrian and Iraqi armies take care of these terrorists in their own country.

Is swimming a sport
ReplyDeleteDo you think swimming is a sport? Some people think swimming is a sport, some people think it isn't. The people that think swimming isn't a sport they think it is just a competition, or they think it is really easy.
The people that think swimming is not a sport. You may think it's just a competition or just a workout. Some people may think they took swimming lessons and they thought it was easy so they think it's really easy and it's not a sport. And some people say it may not be a team sport and it's just individual.

I feel that you should put in some more information because compared to everbody elses yours is really small.
DeleteA good way to fill that in is with facts or interviews.
This is a good start, but yeah you may want to try and find more back up info.
DeleteI agree with Winnie and Lucas, you should have more information to back it up.
DeleteThis is a good and interesting argument! Although, I do agree with the people above as well. This doesn't have any evidence or back up info that would have really made this argument better.
Delete“About two-thirds of Americans, including majorities of men and women alike, say it is easier for men than women to get elected to high political offices and to get top executive positions in business, but women are more likely to express this view,” (Pew). This statistic shows that even women agree they should not uphold important roles in the workforce. For years, people have expected women to stay behind the scenes and support men with smaller roles. Women have never been part of prestigious roles such as president because they do are not as risky as men. These stereotypes have been tossed around for centuries, so why change them now?
ReplyDeleteWomen rarely are part of leadership roles in the workforce because they lack certain traits that make men more qualified for the job. In a poll recently conducted by the Pew Foundation, the scientists have come to a conclusion that men are more accomplished in the areas of taking risks and negotiating deals. Because men are more risky, it makes them more inclined to recieve main political positions. “Women are generally more inclined than men to see higher expectations, voter hesitation and lack of institutional support as major obstacles to female political leadership,” (Pew). Since most women have not been part of important governmental and business jobs, they are strongly unqualified to take these roles. They have no experience in these fields, nevertheless, people still try to open spots for them. “Fully 47% of women believe women who run for office are held to higher standards and have to do more to prove themselves, compared with 28% of men who see this as a major reason that more women are not in top elective office,” (Pew). Another reason why women are not part of leadership roles in the government is because they are preoccupied with families of their own. They do not have the time to balance work while raising children. Men are usually less-involved when it come to their children which gives them more time and energy for their work. Women’s family responsibilities are a major reason why there are not more females in top leadership positions and politics.
All in all, men have shown that they are more qualified in the aspects of having leadership roles in the government. They have held these professions for centuries and have created a successful nation without women in leadership roles. Women are just not cut out for the hard work that men put into their jobs. Men’s strength, diligence, and passion overpower the workforce and keep women from receiving any important roles. America was built by the hands of powerful men leaders who have had women by their side. Women should not receive more leadership roles in the workforce because they do not have the experience that men have in the field of politics and business.

Is Modern Culture Ruining Recent Generations Childhood
ReplyDelete-It Isn't-
Some say that modern society forces kids to stare at screens all day and "rot their eyes out". However there are positives as Christine Greenhow said "What we found was that students using social networking sites are actually practicing the kinds of 21st century skills we want them to develop to be successful today. Students are developing a positive attitude towards using technology systems, editing and customizing content and thinking about online design and layout. They're also sharing creative original work like poetry and film and practicing safe and responsible use of information and technology. The Web sites offer tremendous educational potential." With such a vast amount of knowledge available on the internet there is much for kids to learn. Brendesha Tynes says "...teens are constantly creating, recreating, and honing their identities -- a primary goal of adolescent development. This requires constant reflection on who they are, on who they want to become, and on their values, strengths, and weaknesses." This means kids are learnign who they want to be and can become their own role models. Modern society has it's ups and downs, but some don't seem to notice the capabilities of the internet.

Great use of the Quotes. Very interesting topic and great word selection for this topic. The only thing I would do is to indent every new paragraph. Also there is just a few spelling errors, but other than that well done.
DeleteI agree with josh. I didn't really get when your new ideas started. It was a bit confusing not that confusing I still got it, but you know
ReplyDeleteAccording to a recent study"women were approximately 52% and 66% as strong as the men in the upper and lower body respectively."Women may fight that their equal but genetically men were made differently and with being different with another, a factor of it is strength. Men usually if, have worked properly are naturally stronger. With this factor this is meaning if both men and women were at their full strength men would be stronger. On the other hand this is saying that they have to be at their full strength but most are not, leading to women proposing themselves stronger.
ReplyDelete"The men were also stronger relative to lean body mass." When getting tested a statistic shows that women have “45,41,30 and 25% smaller muscles than men.” Also for example this is why back in the day men usually would always go for work while women stayed home. Also back in the day the first people in militias and armies were men for example. Studies also shows also genetically men got the strength portion while most women got the social skills. In conclusion, men just genetically have more strength than women.
I think that this is a really interesting topic and that this is very well written. I liked how you used percentage comparisons when comparing women's strengths to men's strengths. I also like your transition words; although, I do think that you could have proofread a bit more because I see a few grammatical error that are an easy fix. Other than that, very well done!
DeleteSome people say that proms are way too expensive, but what if they are worth every single penny? The average cost to a family for a prom is a little over a thousand dollars. If every aspect of prom is broken down, the costs for all that has to be done adds up to almost that number. It is worth all the money because prom is said to be the opening of adulthood to a teenager. "It is a once in a lifetime thing" as Kit Yarrow, a consumer psychologist and professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, said. If you think about it, it is the next biggest thing to graduation for everyone in High school. This being a milestone in a teenagers life creates the argument as to the worth of money spent on prom.

The opposition may argue that colleges and universities should only accept high-school students based upon their SAT scores and grades and not anything else. Opposers may argue this because it is important to have a good education when graduated from college so that there are more job opportunities to take. Furthermore, students would be able to qualify for a larger variety of careers if they were accepted only based on their test scores and SAT scores. Also, if colleges only accepted students based on their grades, it would help them in college as well. Some students would benefit from this because it would help them prepare for college life. In college, knowledge is important for later life just like doing good in high-school is important for college. If colleges didn’t look for good grades in high-school students, they most likely wouldn’t do as well in a career in adult life than if they were prepared with the knowledge from college. The opposition of this claim states that colleges should not use admissions criteria other than SAT scores and grades.
